Biography:

I was grown up in musical environment as my grandfather was one of the veteran classical musician from Patan. I liked to play various instruments like harmonium, tabla, and other percussions in my childhood but formally I started learning classical music when I was 14 under my Guru Mohan Prashad Joshi, one of the icon in classical music of Nepal. At beginning, I started learning vocal then later Sitar. Under the strict guidance of Guru for 8 years I had finished Sangeet Pravakar 6th year  bachelor degree coarse from the Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Alahabad in 1998. After that I started involving in music as a Sitar performer and participated numerious concerts in Nepal like in gRastriya Shastriye Sangeet Mahotsavh organized by Sanskritic Sansthan, International Music Day, Radio Nepal, Monthly music program of Kirateswor, Monthly music program of Kalanidhi Sangeet Mahavidhyalaya etc accompanied by various classical musicians. Also involved in instrumental album Like gVajra Creationh, gMusical Journey to the Shindhuligadhih etc.

I pursued to learn classical music with deeply attached in it however I could not neglect the western and nepali pop music too. I was a big fan of Mettalica, GNR, Deep Purple, Nirvana, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi etc and I still love to listen such kinds of music . I feel myself somehow different from other classical musicians as it is very rare to find in Nepal that classical musicians involving in popular music genre with the same passion. I used to have a pop band and was a vocalist( once we recorded and visualized one song called gSuntalih in 1996 and was broadcast from Nepal Television as well as from FM stations too) In this way growing with both eastern and western music, in result, my almost all creativities(whether its instrumental or song) were naturally born into fusion music as both kinds of music are always fuses in my mind.

For the further study I went to Japan in 2000 when I was 22 and joined undergraduate in International Cooperation faculty. During my stay in Japan I had lots of chances to perform and record in both solo and group music with Nepali, Japanese and various artists in various albums and concerts from different countries. At beginning I met the musician friends like Bobin, Tetstu, Tomoko with whom I joined as a member of "Bobin and the Mantra" and had lots of concert tours with them too. I also started individual concerts where I could promote and introduce Nepali music . I had released my solo instrumental album gSwotantrah in 2003 from Monsoonrecord Japan and gEast meets West, Thamel, Nepalh.
During my stay in Japan I have been also receiving guidance about performing Sitar and Hindustani Classical Music under Sitar Maestro Amit Roy (Disciple of Pandit Nikhil Banerjee)
.

After finishing my Undergraduate in 2004 I decided to step into music in one another way that is not only as a performer but as a scholar too. Looking towards the Nepali music field from the abroad, I realized that we due to the lack of nepali music research our heritage music are no more concerned and are not properly systemmetized. They are also not well preserved and lot of research has to be done yet. I had an opportunity to join the Masters Degree in Musicology in Tokyo University of Music and Fine Arts (Tokyo Geijyutsu Daigaku). So, since 2004 I have been doing research and studying about gthe introduction and development of North Indian Classical music in Nepalh. I have finished my PH.D in musicology in March 2010. Currently I am working as an Educational Research Assistant in the Musicology Department of Tokyo National University of Fine Art and Music.
