Introduction and Dissemination of Hindustani Classical Music in Nepal

 This dissertation clarifies how Hindustani Classical Music has been introduced in Nepal after its unification in 1769. This tradition flourished during the Rana period in Nepal, and became one of its classical music.  

Nepal is one of the countries in South Asia which is considered as a same cultural area as India for they have similar traditions, customs, religions and the ethnicity. There is also a long history of migration between Nepal and India sharing their culture. Historical Kings of Lichhivi, Malla and Shah dynasty’s origin were from various parts of India, who came to rule in Nepal at different periods.
